What is Wheat Allergy?

Wheat is daily staple food of many Americans. However, most find that they are allergic to special proteins present in wheat, not to mention gluten. If you have wheat allergy symptoms you must restrict yourself from eating foods that contain wheat and sadly that is the only way to stop the allergic reaction.  I know I know it’s not easy to give up on your favorite food. This problem is caused when the allergic person consumes any food material consisting of gluten which is one type of the proteins found in wheat grain.

Some of these symptoms may include hives around the mouth, breathing problems, inflammation in the mouth, gastrointestinal distress, etc. In some of the extreme cases, the allergic individual may develop hives on other parts of the body and also anaphylaxis may occur. Apart from that, wheat allergies may also promote dermatitis which is a respiratory issue. This problem commonly arises when the individual inhales wheat pollen, chaff or dust through the respiratory pathway, like for instance if the individual uses a wheat straw broom.

As per the treatment of this problem, the most common and the primary treatment are to stay away from the wheat grain. Besides that, advice of doctors and medications are mandatory to be required to cope with the allergic reactions that may arise when the individual accidentally exposes himself to wheat. Apart from that, allergic testing may be necessary to determine the exact cause of the allergy so that it can be avoided in future.
